Attorney John B. Pike appeared before the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas in connection with a high-profile criminal homicide prosecution arising from a fatal motor vehicle incident in Plains Township.
During pretrial proceedings, the defense challenged the Commonwealth’s theory that the incident constituted an intentional homicide and argued the evidence was more consistent with a tragic motor vehicle accident.

The prosecution alleges the defendant intentionally struck a pedestrian during an encounter connected to an ongoing personal dispute. Prosecutors further contend surveillance footage supports their allegations of intentional conduct.

The defense additionally asserted that the evidence supports the position that the defendant intended to strike property — specifically a motorcycle — rather than a person.
